Extensive research on coronavirus infection in pets suggests that cats are more susceptible than dogs.
But don’t panic, there is no evidence yet that it can spread from cats to people. However, cats can spread coronavirus to other cats. More importantly, dogs did not show any symptoms of COVID-19 in these experiments.
Experiments conducted in lab where the scientists studied the infection in pets discovered that when pets were exposed to high doses of SARS-CoV-2, cats seemed to be infected with virus but not dogs. Among the cats which acquired infection none of them showed symptoms of illness. Further, it was not clear whether the virus spread to other cats from infected cats was through air droplets or urine or feces.
