Pets on long drive

Before you begin your long drive with your pet in car, consider these requirements of your pet.

• Pack also your pets favorite toys and blanket.
• It is advised to keep your pets in a carrier while traveling in car for the safety of the driver, passengers and your pet.
• Train your pet to get accustomed to the carrier before you take your trip.
• Small pets are better protected in the carrier than they are free since there is less risk of jumping out or jumping on others or distract the driver.
• For a large dog, it is best to tie at the back seat so it doesn’t interfere with driving and avoid causing accidents.
• Dogs love to put their heads out of car windows but it is a greater risk for the dogs and owners especially if the car is moving.
  • There is greater risk of dogs jumping out the window or your dog getting injured by the flying objects. Also, the ears flapping with the strong winds can also harm your pet.
  • Specially in summer times the car can heat to extremely hot temperatures in a very short time. Opening the windows for air circulation does not provide enough comfort inside the car.
• Regardless of any weather conditions, it is best not to leave your pets in your vehicle.
• During your long trip, it is necessary to take frequent breaks for pets and owners. Consider taking a break for at least once in two hours for fresh water or bathroom. Feed your pet on regular intervals.
  • During the break, walk your dogs for a short time to release the tension in the muscles and do not forget to put your pet on leash as you might be next to a busy road.
